Sydney west athletics carnival 2024

Saturday 10th Aug
Sydney West Athletics Carnival took place on the 7th (Wednesday), and 8th, (Thursday) August. On Wednesday, I ran in the 14 Girls 800m, and finished with a time of 2:53. On Thursday I had 4 events, 14 Girls 1500m, 14 Girls 1500m Walk, 14 Girls 4×100m Relay and 14 Girls Javelin. First up was the 1500m run, and I finished with a time of 6:05. Second was Javelin, and I threw 19 and a half metres. Third was the 1500m Walk, where I crossed the finish line first with a time of 7:53 and qualified for CHS Championships, (NSW Combined High Schools). Last was the relay. I ran the 3rd leg and got a 2 second pb!

Sydney west athletics carnival - day 1 🏃‍♀️

Wednesday 7th Aug
First day of the 2024 Sydney West Secondary School Sports Association Athletics Carnival and it got off to a great start. 2:53 for my 800m, a time that I haven't done in about 3 years. Tomorrow I will have the 1500m run, 1500m walk, Javelin and I may be running a leg in one of the 4×100m Relays too! Keep checking my feed on here and also on Instagram for more updates!

2024 nsw road relay championships🥉🏃‍♀️

Saturday 3rd Aug
Today I got to add another 6km onto my running total at the Crest Athletics Centre for the NSW Road Relay Championships. I ran the first leg in the U16 4×2km Relay and then less than an hour later I ran the second leg in the U18 4×4km Relay. My team in the U16 Relay won a bronze🥉medal with a time of 32:35 and unfortunately we didn't have enough people for the U18 Relay. I ended up running 6km in a total time of 29:44. Now onto some more training before Sydney West School Athletics Carnival next week! 🏃‍♀️

First week of fred's big run 🚴‍♀️ (1st-3rd august)

Saturday 3rd Aug
The first week of Fred's Big Run is over and I've already completed about 8km of my 100km goal. Still a long way to go but I'll be getting some more kilometres in today with the NSW Road Relay Championships. I will make a post about that once I've competed. On Thursday I kicked off my challenge with an 8km bike ride. Here are some photos. Keep checking this regularly for more updates and photos throughout this month.

About me

Sunday 21st Jul
Yama, (hello), my name is Emma. I'm 13 years old and I am a proud Wiradjuri and Gamilaraay girl. I love sport. I currently run competitively at a state level and racewalk competitively at a national level. But sport for me didn't start with that. I used to swim really well when I was five and I also did Physie for a year back then too. Once I stopped swimming I started Little Athletics. Ever since, I go to Quakers Hill Little Athletics centre on a Friday night during the in-season from September to March to have a go at all the events in athletics, or at least give them a try. However, sport for me doesn't end there. One night when I was eight, I decided to try something new, so I asked my parents to take me down to one of Quakers Hill Little Athletics's training nights and gave racewalking a go. And, well, it kind of just "stuck." Little did I know that in roughly 6 month's time I would compete at my first State Championships and finish 7th, or that I would break the club record for that age group, and then break it again. Since then, I now hold 5 club records at Quakers Hill Little Athletics, for the walk in every age group from U10 up to U14. I have now competed at a total of 8 state championships, and since 2022, I have qualified and competed at 5 Australian championships. In total, I have won 5 state silver medals and 1 national bronze medal. So I really love my sport. And I really love helping others, too. I hope that by combining my love of racewalking and running with my love of helping others, I can help the Fred Hollows Foundation restore sight to those who are blind. Please donate to support my challenge.

About my challenge

Sunday 21st Jul
Hi, I'm Emma and this is my third year participating in Fred's Big Run. This August I'm aiming to run/racewalk over 100km to try and raise money for the Fred Hollows Foundation. Right now, 9 out of 10 people who are blind don't need to be, and an operation that can cost as little as $25 can help restore someone's sight and change their life forever. Please donate to support my challenge. Every dollar counts.
