The last hurrah!
After a week of being unwell and trying to get out and walk.I finished today with a pretty decent walk. I managed to tackle some cross-country, even wiith my low vision. I'm proud of my selfYipee!! go reached today!
Quick walk to mum's today to have a cuppa and play a game.Day 24 - walking to oma
A quick walk to beat the rain. We made it to Oma's without the brolly. Time for a cuppa and a game, then walking back again. P.S. Still no shirt. LOL.Day 23 - swapping cars again
1 driver... 2 cars.... doing the dance again. Had to drive car home from service and then walk back to get the other car... Another 7km DONE!Day 21 - the village
Today was a bit busy, so we had to squeeze a 2.8km walk in before our games at the village.Chipping away
After a couple of distracted days, I finally had a small windows of opportunity to hit the pavement. Feel good 👍Village walk
Just a short walk today, many other things taking up my timeDay 20 - the cemetary
Today I walked from my old school to Innes Lakes, past the Cemetary. oh wow, this brings back memories. The last time I walked past this cemetery, I was 15 years old and a girlfriend and I walked here after school to get her horse and we both galloped up the whole length of the cemetery, bareback, ending up on the horses' neck..... then he put his head down and we both fell off. Those were the days.... That horse paddock is now full of high density housing.Day 19 - note for sam
Hi Sam, No activity for the last couple of days. Life is so Busy. I have still not seen my t-shirt, but the book has arrived. Thank you so much, it will be an interesting read. I will keep walking. Wendy.Day 15 - the canals
I am still trying to work out the Strava ap. I'm not liking it. seems like it is just doubling up the work to log a walk. I took Sylve for a walk in the canal area. we did 6km together. She is a legend.Day 16 - the sausage again
I took Sylvia for a walk in the Sausage territory. I had walked this route before, but didn't realise the lack of public paths until I took Sylve with me.Gym session
Today's entry is actually a mini triathlon. 30 minutes treadmill/10 minutes stationery bike/20 minutes aqua aerobics.Rollercoaster
As title today suggests, our walk consistent of very steep hills and very deep dips. Hence not as long a distance achieved in the timeframe.Canal walkabout
The sun came out today after a horrendous wet yesterday. So, after an aqua aerobics class Wendy and I headed over to the canals area and admired the beautiful homes whilst walkingDay 13 - naughty sausage
Took the sausage for a walk. He was going really well, until a lovely friendly pup wanted to say Hi. I've never heard a sausage squeal, but here we were, standing on back legs, squealing like a little piggy and showing off his pearly whites to everyone. Then he did it.... he nipped the poor little pup, right on the nose. Naughty Naughty sausage. I took him further today, but only because I was lost. lolBig wet
We have been forecast a dreary week 😔 So, today, with help, I got access to a treadmill. All power to me!! hooray.Day 11 - toby
Busy day today, so didn't get to my walk until this afternoon. Got home late and took the 🌭 hotdog for a walk. I was surprised that he was still keen to keep going at 2 kms. He's a warrior, little Toby.Day 10 - sea acres
Took Sylvia for a walk through Sea Acres today. A beautiful rainforest walk, safely fenced and plastic boardwalk all the way. perfectly safe for vision impaired people. We did 3 laps of the 3.3km track. Again, both aps let us down. I tracked on my Samsung watch 4km. My ap said 3.7km, Sylvia's ap said she walked 0.8km. she must be a light weight, practically floating, given that we walked together again. We only saw a bush turkey today 🦃, but we heard lots of other wildlife. Especially the laughing kookaburras. I still need to walk the dog this afternoon. 🌭 Pic shows the walking track, but if you look closely, you will see I was actually swinging from the trees too. 🤣Sea acres rainforest walk
Lovely sheltered walk today. Map of park states the walk is 1.3km, so Wendy and I looped 3 times (and a bit) to clock up 4km. My app is going haywire, says I only walked 0.8km. Wendy must have been piggybacking 🐷 me 😆 (in which case, she is now pancaked, as I am no feather-weight)Day 9 - town beach
I left my Chiropractor (after thanking him for his donations) with Sylvia. We put our aps on together, and I started my watch. Its a beautiful day today 🌞, we saw pelicans and sausage dogs along our breakwall journey. Sylvia was wearing her shirt, I have unfortunately not received mine yet. 😔 I accidentally stopped my ap half way through, hence the 2 entries for today, but luckily my watch is on to back up the 5km that we walked. At the end of the walk I turned Sylvia's ap off for her, and she had walked a whopping 12.5km, all the way beside me on my 5km walk. hmmmm. 🤔 Well until I go home and walk the sausage, this will be me. Time for my Salmon lunch.Day 8 - moving the van
So, it's just me! I have a van. And I had to move it. So I drove it back home, then had to walk back 5km to get my car.... don't ask! I decided to take the Bush trail, I could have walked back along the road, but Bush is quieter, and you get to see wildlife, so off I went taking my old bones for a walk. The thing about being old, is that once you start walking, everything starts to move around inside and loosen up. That's a good thing, right? I am now on a public forest trail, and didn't need to pee 2 minutes ago. But now I do. I really really do.......Time and distance checker
Today I took a walk to see how far and how long it would take me to Walk to mum's house. Successful 4K round-trip.Day 7 - kangaroos
Got up early to walk today. Ap stopped on me again. Another trail I haven't been on. The first 3 kangaroos jumped away as I approached. The mum and two children kanga, just stood while I walked past them. The mum did utter some words of warning. lol. Now I need a cuppa..... Still walking in my cat shirts, as I have not yet received my Fred Hillows shirt.Day 6 - the paperbarks
Very disappointed. My ap let me down again. Half way through a walk and found ap had stopped, I had to start it again. I will do the same walk tomorrow to log it again properly.Going around in circles
So ..... today I discovered that whilst I quite probably walked about 3 and a 1/2 kilometres my logging on my app only recorded about point 6 of a kilometre. This is due to the fact that I live in a village and walking around the village., weaving in and out of streets within, doesn't seem to record any further distance. This is a little bit frustrating. However, I will push forwardDay 5
Well, my day was super busy, so walked in the dark again. I listened to my book to distract me from the invisible dangers and the possible boogeyman. I survived. and the book is great.Day 4 - industrial area
Today I had a computer and Netflix day. Outlander Season 7 Binge. So, at 5pm, I decided that I needed to move my gluteus maximus and went for a walk. I checked out the local businesses and took a call from my daughter, which made the hour go so much quicker. Back at 6pm, it was already dark. Now I'm ready to eat and sleep.Day 3
Moved the van and had to walk to the other car. Absolutely beautiful day in Port Macquarie today.Day 2 - pt macquarie
Well, it started out raining, so we left the walk to the afternoon. Walked with Sylv, as not in sync again. Sylv got her t-shirt today. Fits well, she looks great in it.Rain't, rain go away.....
A bit wet this morning. Hopefully it's drier this afternoon when we get back to Port Macquarie.Day 1 - medowie
Walked around Medowie. We both got soaked. Wierd thing is, we both had the same ap, started at same time, but my ap logged 4km and Sylve's ap logged 3km.We’re stepping up to restore sight!
We're taking on Fred’s Big Run this August to STEP UP TO RESTORE SIGHT!
Our goal is to raise funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation to continue the legacy of an Australian legend, Fred Hollows.
Because right now, 9 out of 10 people who are blind don't need to be...
And an operation that costs as little as $25 can help restore sight to someone who is needlessly blind, and change their life forever!
Please make a donation and support our challenge to give the gift of sight.
Fred Hollows' dream was to live in a world where no one was needlessly blind, please sponsor our challenge and let's honour his memory together.
Thank you for your support.
