well I made it just over 80km and given I nearly missed two whole weeks of running thanks to chronic sinusitis I think that’s pretty good! I still plan to knock my 100km off in the next week just so i know i did my donators proud :)

Reality check

Today was reality check day, I’ve had to bring my running goal down to 100 km. After so many years, not being able to run I found that I’m needing to learn to run all over again and that means smaller shorter runs with better form, so I don’t reinjure myself. But, you know what I hope everybody will forgive me for not running so far. And no reality checks on my fundraising goal because that’s not about me that’s about helping people see!

Holy sh!t guys only 5 days left of this walk/run!! If you guys know me you would be well aware of how late I am to events or leave things to the last minute so apparently this is no different… I believe I have 27km to do in the next 5 days which I know I’ll be able to. But yeah if you guys wanted to show any more support than you amazing people already have done, don’t be shy it’s for a good reason. see you on the other side 🫶🏼

Gears

Today, after 19 days, my climbing gear finally kicked in, and I’ve run sixk’s completing the first of my catch up kilometres. I’d love it if you could kick up my fundraising goal so more people can see!

Over half way and only 40km to go!

So far this month I’ve ran a PB at South Bank Parkrun, ran the 5k at Sunshine Coast Eva Air event, ran a 15k, 8k and 10k and a few under 10k. Having the 100k target is keeping me motivated to not get too far behind and pushing me to do the longer runs to just stay abreast with the weekly distance goal.

Goals

So today I hit the 50kms mark of my running goal only 100 to go. I won’t be upping my running goal. But I have upped my fundraising goal to $1500, so more people can see!

Running in the dark

I’m choosing to run the first part of my challenge in the dark because I feel a bit self-conscious about my lack of fitness. There are people out there, though, without the gift of choice, unnecessarily living in the dark and shadows all the time. Please sponsor my run so more people can see.

Tonight was a slog. I wanted to go home at 1.5 k’s and found no rhythm before 2.5 k’s inspired by my childhood hero Cliffy Young I kept putting 1 foot in front of the other, thinking about kids, that can’t see proper, I managed my first 5k run of the challenge. I’m up to 30 k’s, I’m 20% of the way there. I’m determined to shuffle my way to 150 and hope you guys might sponsor me so that children can see the world in HD

Missed run

had to skip my long run today, recovering from a nasty virus so hoping by Wednesday I can pick up some kms

Counting every step

Late last year I was diagnosed with a serious back condition that limits my ability to walk any distance. Prior to that I was able to do 15km, now I can barely manage 5km on the flat. So now every step counts! I am going to keep trying though and this fundraiser motivates me to get up and get moving every day!

I can feel I am improving with my speed and my body is already feeling more balanced. once again I am so grateful to experience the blessing of the sunrise.

considering I haven’t done any exercise for months and months I was very happy with my walk this morning. it was so dark at 5am. I arrived back home at 6:55am feeling like as though I needed some lubricant squirted into my knees otherwise I felt amazing. definitely looking forward to a great sleep tonight.

First day done!!

Started off with a 3.8 km run, and got my free Fred's Big Run T-shirt in the mail- great timing. Let's go!!

First run

It was 1 degree outside when I got up this morning so I decided that my firsr run would be indoors on the treadmill. It was my firsr run in months so the legs felt like concrete but I managed to 6km. 6 down, 94 to go!

-1.7 degrees at 5:30am in downtown Alice Springs…kicking off with a 5.5km walk on the treadmill 😀 added a 5 km walk after work

Let’s get walking

In 2021 I started beach walking and stair climbs. within six weeks I was crippled with the worst foot pain I’d ever experienced 😫 As the world was going through some crazy times it took awhile to get myself into a doctors to find out what was going on Planta Fasciitis sucks. That is all I have to say about that. I am still recovering but am done with it ruling my health 😐 So to really push myself out of my comfort zone 😱 and get massively uncomfortable I have signed up to walk 500km 😳🏃‍♀️ I AM SCARED I AM UNCOMFORTABLE I AM DETERMINED I AM RESILIANT I AM STRONG AND I CAN DO THIS Thanks for your support in this challenge and in helping this amazing fundraising campaign.
